An Album of Photographs – Training of Youth during the Israeli War of Independence – 1948-1949

Approx. 110 photographs arranged in an album, documenting training of youth during the War of Independence. Kfar Brandeis (Hadera of today), Ein HaShofet, Haifa, and elsewhere, 1948-1949.
Presumably, this album had belonged to a young woman who joined pre-military training during the war. The photogrpahs depict: the establishment of a tent camp in Kfar Brandeis (Hadera of today); a young man affixing a sign on the gate of the camp – "Youth Corps, Shomron Chefer, Training Camp" (Hebrew); a special military parade for the swearing in of IDF soldiers in Kfar Yonah; youth during various training –ropes, camouflage, judo, knives and signaling; and more. Many photographs document the life at the camp and times of leisure.
Most of the photographs are captioned by hand on the leaves; some are captioned and dated by hand on their verso. Several loose photographs.
Size of photographs: approx. 9X6 cm (some photographs are smaller). Good condition. Few stains. Minor blemishes. Size of album: approx. 20X30 cm. Tears to tissue guards. Worn and damaged binding.
