"Shana Tovah" Postcard – Fundraising for the "General Orphanage for Girls" in Jerusalem

Illustrated "Shana Tovah" postcard issued by the "General Orphanage for Girls" in Jerusalem (Allg. Isr. Mädchen-Waisenhaus in Jerusalem) [ca. 1920s]. German and a little Hebrew.
Postcard issued by the "General Orphanage for Girls" in Jerusalem in order to raise funds for the orphanage. The illustration on the postcard depicts two girls (one of them described as a survivor of the pogrom in Ekaterinoslav) wishing a Happy New Year on behalf of the 80 orphans, residents of the institution. Alongside the illustration, a German text is printed – a request to financially support the orphanage so it will be able to absorb survivors of the pogroms in Russia and Morocco and so the orphans will not be taken in by the institutions of the Christian mission. On verso of the postcard, a text describing the goals of the orphanage and the religious education given to its girls.
The "General Orphanage for Girls" in Jerusalem was established in 1902 by David Weingarten. At first, it operated on Meah She'arim Street, and later moved to a house in the yard of the Ethiopian Church and in 1930, to Alliance House on Jaffa Street, where approx. 200 orphaned girls lived. The orphanage was called "general" since its gates were open to girls of all communities. Ever since it was established, all its lessons were taught in Hebrew.
Approx. 10X16 cm. Good condition. Few stains. Was sent by mail.
