Two parts in one volume.?A History of the Old and New Testament, with 214 engraved plates (on most of them appear two separate images that depict Biblical scenes), five maps (a map of the world and maps of Palestine and its environs – double plates), and two title-page engravings.?The book was published by the Dutch cartographer and engraver Pieter Mortier (1661-1711) and is therefore often referred to as "Mortier's Bible."?[11] leaves, 282, [8] pp; [11] leaves, 154, 20 pp. + plates, approx. 41 cm. Leather binding. Good condition. Large dampstain on the first leaves of the book and a few stains on the subsequent leaves. A few tears. Minor worming. Some pages and plates are bound upside down. The binding is reinforced with paper strips on the inside (along the seam between boards and endpapers). Restored tears to endpapers. Damaged binding, with restoration.
