Philosophical-polemic composition about Spinoza's doctrine, by Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi (1743-1819). The book was part of the "Pantheism controversy".
Two unnumbered leaves, with the poem "Prometheus" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, are bound between pp. 48-49. The poem was printed without its author's permission and was omitted from the second issue of this edition.
[8], 48, [4], 49-215, [1] pp, 17 cm. Minor blemishes. Original leather binding. Several ink inscriptions and notations (old). Stamp (faded) on the margins of the title page. Blemishes and tears to binding and along the spine.
