Prohibition Against all 16-40 Years Old Leaving the Country – Broadside Issued by "Mifkad Ha'am" – February 1948

"An additional decree to declaration no. 4 – Prohibition against leaving the country" (Hebrew), a broadside issued by "Mifkad Ha'am" (the general recruitment system of the Yishuv), the Jewish national Council and the Jewish Agency. Tel-Aviv, February 24, 1948.
"Mifkad Ha'am" was the name of the Hebrew recruitment system active since the decision of the UN about the Partition Plan for Palestine and until the establishment of the State of Israel. This broadside was issued in the midst of the recruitment process during the Israeli War of Independence and it widens the age range of people who were forbidden to leave the country to ages 16-40 (those born in 1907-1932). In addition, the broadside forbids travel agencies and companies to assist members of the Yishuv to leave the country "both by providing information, getting visas or selling tickets, and by providing transportation" (Hebrew), except those with special permits.
Approx. 44.5X34 cm. Good condition. Stains. Open tears and filing holes to margins. The broadside is mounted on thin paper for restoration.
Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.
