"Liberated Judea" – Silver Medal that was Awarded to the Soldiers of the Jewish Legion as a Token of Appreciation for Their Service, 1918
"Liberated Judea", a silver medal designed and issued by "Bezalel". The "Liberated Judea" medals were awarded in 1918, after the conquest of Jerusalem by the British, to the soldiers of the 40th battalion of the Royal Fusiliers (the first Palestinian Jewish legion) as a token of appreciation for their service.
Obverse: A palm tree and a woman beside it undoing her chains while a Roman soldier escapes. On the lower part, the Hebrew legend "Liberated Judea". Reverse: Star of David and the Hebrew legend "The Volunteers of the Nation, Palestine, 1918". Diameter: 25 mm. Suspension loop.
Enclosed: An additional copy of the medal, made of a different metal, without a suspension loop.
