An imaginary map of Jerusalem after the map of Jerusalem by the Jesuit scholar Juan Bautista Villalpando. The map shows the Temple Mount standing on large supporting beams, "Davids Citty", and more. Around the map, in a wide frame, are shown the Temple (represented as a European palace), the Temple vessels – including the Menorah, the altars and table, the High Priest and King Solomon (in Turkish attire), and more.
Approx. 54x41 cm. Good condition. Small tears along margins (among them minor open tears, not affecting the print). Tears along the fold lines, restored and reinforced with pieces of paper mounted to verso of the map. Stains. A few creases, handwriting on verso of map.
