Postcard Collection – WWI Photographs – the Capture of Jerusalem, Soldiers of the Jewish Legion, and More

Postcard collection with photogarphs of Palestine during WWI. Photographs of the capture of Jerusalem; photographs of British soldiers, including soldiers in the Jewish Legion; and more.
The collection contains:
* Two postcards published by Ya'akov Ben-Dov (Jerusalem) with photos of the soldiers of the Jewish Legion in Palestine: "Changing the Guard in the Rafa Desert" and "The 39th Battalion R.F. camped outside Jerusalem".
* 11 postcards published by N. De Simini with photos from capture of Jerusalem (1917): General Allenby's entrance to Jerusalem, General Allenby standing next to the Tower of David announcing the conquest of Jerusalem, the visit of the Duke of Connaught to the Temple Mount, British soldiers near the Tower of David, etc.
* 34 official British postcards, some titled "British Official Photograph" (Cairo). These include postcards with photos of British, Scottish and Australian soldiers (Imperial Camel Corps entering Beersheba, etc.); postcard with photo of General Sir Edmund Allenby & General Baillout at Ismailia; postcard with photo of the announcement of the conquest of Jerusalem; postcard with a photo of the British forces entering Jerusalem; postcard with a photo of Turkish prisoners in Palestine; postcards with photographes of sites in the cities of Beersheba, Gaza, Ramle (the Ottoman train station), Lod, Hebron, Jaffa, Jerusalem, el Arish, etc.

Total of 51 postcards. Condition varies. Stains and creases to some postcards. Pen inscriptions on verso of some postcards. Ink-stamp on verso of one postcard. None were sent by post.
