Plaque – Samuel Anointing David King of Israel
Round plaque with a detailed relief depicting Samuel anointing David King of Israel.
The year 1577 appears in the center of the relief by the figure of David.
A handwritten inscription on the back of the plaque: "Benevenuto Cellini, Samuel anointing David King of Israel". Benevenuto Cellini (1500-1571), whose name appears on the plaque, was an Italian goldsmith and sculptor, one of the most famous goldsmiths in Italy during the Renaissance.
Diameter: 105 mm. Slight defects and a repaired break.
