Collection of Paper Items – Jewish Refugees in Shanghai – 1940-1948 / Ketubah Arranged in Shanghai

Four paper items issued for Jewish refugees in Shanghai. Shanghai, 1940-1948. Chinese, English and German.
1. Handwritten postcard (German), send on May 19, 1941 to Karoline Katz, by one of her children. Written on a Mothers' Day card with the emblem of the SJYA (Shanghai Jewish Youth Association).
2. Printed membership card, filled in with typewritten details and signed, issued by the youth club of the SJYA. English.
3. Printed booklet (Chinese), filled in by hand (English) and stamped, issued for a Jew. A passport photograph of the owner of the booklet appears on the first page under the handwritten inscription "Stateless".
4. Ketubah, printed and filled in by hand, recording the marriage of Naftali Jonas and Rachel Wiesel, which took place in Shanghai on the Jan. 25, 1948. Printed in Aramaic and in English.
Enclosed: a page from a printed resident certificate, ink-stamped, issued for a Jewish woman in Shanghai (originally two pages). With a passport photo and fingerprints of the woman.
Size and condition vary. Stains, creases, tears and open tears (primarily to margins). The booklet is in fair condition - the front cover, back cover and some other leaves are detached.
