Varied Collection of Items - Synagogues in Palestine and Europe - Booklets, Pamphlets and Photographs
Collection of items on synagogues - booklets and pamphlets in honor of synagogue inaugurations, photographs (including photographs of synagogues in Palestine by Alfred Bernheim, Ya'acov Ben-Dov and Ricarda Schwerin, and photographs of synagogues in Europe), and more. Palestine, Germany, Italy and England, 19th and 20th centuries.
Collection includes:
• Alte Synagoge zu Passau [the Old Synagogue in Passau], etching by Johann Gabriel Friedrich Poppel, after Gustav Seeberger. [Munich, ca. 1846].
• Two song booklets, in Hebrew and Italian, in honor of synagogue inaugurations in Italy: a booklet "For the inauguration of the Turin Synagogue" (1884) and a booklet "For the inauguration of the synagogue rebuilt by the charitable Jews of Modena" (1873).
• Printed booklet - invitation to the inauguration ceremony of the synagogue in Modena (Tempio Israelitico di Modena), with the event's program.
• Festordnung fur die Einweihungsfeier der Synagoge der Israelitischen Religionsgemeinde zu Alsfeld, program of the inauguration ceremony of the synagogue of the Jewish community in Alsfeld (Germany), 1905.
• Cremer & Wolffenstein Konigliche Geheime Baurate, Berlin 1915. Catalogue dedicated to the works of German architects Wilhelm Cremer and Richard Wolffenstein, containing many photographs of various buildings, including synagogues.
• Illustrated receipt for a contribution to the Ohel Moed synagogue. Tel Aviv, 1930.
• Photograph of a synagogue in Cologne (Roonstrasse Synagogue).
• Photograph of a synagogue, by the photographer Jaucowski from Grimsby, England.
• Two photographs of synagogues in Palestine (Safed?), one by Alfred Bernheim and the other by Ya'acov Ben-Dov.
• Nine photographs of the Ades Synagogue in the Nachla'ot neighborhood, Jerusalem, by Ricarda Schwerin (signed on reverse: "Bernheim Studio, Ricarda Schwerin, photographer of Jerusalem").
