Letter from Rabbi Ya'akov Segal Leibowitz – The Rabbi from Kapish

A letter from Rabbi Ya'akov Segal Leibowitz. Budapest, 1950.
This letter was sent to his brother in law, Rabbi Ya'akov Shemaria Segal Deutsch. Deals with Halachic questions, family matters and travel routes from Hungary.
The Gaon Rabbi Yosef Segal Leibowitz (passed away in 1980), was the son in law of Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Deutsch from Mako. (More about him on item 518). He was the Av Beit Din of Kapish (Hungary).
After the Holocaust, he was the head of the Orthodox Beit Din in Budapest, who mainly dealt with Hatarat Agunot (Dispensation of the abandoned wife) from the “Sheerit Hapleita” Holocaust survivors, as mentioned in the introduction of his book Mishnat Ya'akov responsa.
He lived the last few decades of his life in the United States, where he was known as one of the greatest Poskim. He was among the heads of the Rabbinical Organization in the United States (this Rabbinical Organization is affiliated with the Satmar circle and Hungarian emigrants) and was known as the “Rabbi from Kapish”.
