Beit Midrash Ohel Torah, founded by Rabbi Shmuel Yitzchak Hillman (Father in law of Rabbi Herzog), one of the first "Kollelim" of our times. Donations were generous and due to high demand only excellent students were accepted, most of them graduates of Yeshivat Hebron and Lithuanian Yeshivot. Some famous rabbis studied there: Rabbi Binyamin Yehoshua Silber, Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Levine, Rabbi Shlomo Teneh, Rabbi Moshe Tikochinsky and Rabbi Shalom Shwadron, as well as Rabbi Yossef Shalom Elyashiv and Rabbi Shmuel Ha-Levy Wosner may they live long.
In the archive herewith, many letters concerning fund raising, recommendations and requests to accept students, letters of students who request to raise their allowance permanently or for a special cause.
According to the book of receipts it seems that in 1940, Rabbi Elyashiv was accepted to the Kolel and received right away the maximal allowance.
Hundreds of documents, sizes and conditions vary, generally in good condition.
