A book in two parts portraying famous Jewish intellectuals and artists from modern Germany, including photographs and reproductions of their illustrated portraits, a short biography of every one of them and facsimiles of works and autographs of some of them. Among them: Heinrich Heine, Michael Beer, Isidor Kaufmann, Moritz Oppenheim, Max Lieberman, Bronislaw Hubermann, Herzl and others.
The book is divided into chapters according to professions. Both parts are bound together in a fine illustrated binding with gold embossing.

25 cm. Good condition. Stains. Traces of a detached bookplate on the endpaper. Lacking spine of volume II and partly detached binding.
