Rabbi Chaim Hirschenzon (1857-1935, Ozar Ha’Rabbanim 5961) was a genius rabbi and a knowledgeable author. He was among the most famous philosophers of the religious Zionism. Was born in Safed, and moved with his family to Jerusalem where they established the Hirschenzon Printing Press. Among the founders of “Beit Midrash Abarbanel”, which later on became the national library. He participated in the First Zionist Congress. Emigrated to the USA and served as rabbi in the city of Hoboken, New-Jersey. Wrote dozens of books, the majority of which dealt with the issue of the establishment of a Jewish state from a Halachic point of view.
Upon the page prior to the title page, inscription by the author: “To the honorable and dear merciful admirer of rabbis… our rabbi and master Rabbi David Friedman, with great respect, from your close friend Chaim Hirschenzon”.
