Avnei Milu’im Ktzot Ha’Choshen – First editions
Books of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Ha’Cohen Heller, author of Ktzot Ha’Choshen – books which immediately upon their publication have become the most fundamental books of Talmudic study and were printed in dozens of editions.
1. Ktzot Ha’Choshen, on the Choshen Mishpat section of the Shulchan Aruch. Lemberg (Lvov), [1788-1795]. 2 sections. First edition. (The first volume was printed in the printing press of Rebbetzin Yehudit Rosenes wife of the Av Beit Din of Lvov).
The book Kuntres Ha’Sfekot (pamphlet of uncertainties) by the brother of the author is included with the book.
Signatures and various ownership inscriptions: “Ha Katan Shaul” from the city of Neitra [apparently this refers to Rabbi Shaul Ehrenfeld, the Mechutan of the Chatam Sofer], Rabbi Zvi, and others.
2. Avnei Milu’im, on the Even Ha’Ezer section of the Shulchan Aruch. Lemberg (Lvov) and Zolkova, 1815-1825. 2 sections, first edition.
Upon the title page of the first section a handwritten signature: “This book which was given to me by the honorable rabbi… belongs to me, Shmuel Zvi Hirsch” [apparently the husband of one of the author’s granddaughters].
Ownership inscriptions or signatures of Rabbi Ya'akov Cahana Teichler, who purchased the books from their previous owners, appear upon all four volumes of the book.
4 volumes, 33-36cm. Good condition. (Imperfect restoration of damage of the last pages of Kuntres Ha’Sfekot). Cardboard and leather binding, worn and damaged
