JNF Box - Leopold Fleischhacker - Germany
A box for collection of donations for JNF, made by Leopold Fleischhacker. Germany, [ca. 1910, pre-World War I].
Copper sheet; embossing; iron lock. Marked on the bottom: "Entwurf. Leop. Fleischhacker Ausf: Homann-Werke. Vohwinkel", and marked with a serial number: A 10 381.
The box was designed and manufactured by the Jewish-German sculptor Leopold Fleischhacker (1882-1946), prior to World War I. Embossed on front are the legend "קרן קימת לישראל - Jüdischer National Fonds" and a Star of David; embossed on the side panels are ornamentations shaped as a memorial lamp; on the rear panel appear ornamentations resembling a cluster of grapes.
Height: 15 cm, width: 9.5 cm, length: 8.5 cm. Some stains. Bends. Lock is defected.
