Embroidered Flag and Photographs of the Bar Giora Movement in Pruszków, Poland
Embroidered flag and two photographs documenting the farewell ceremony of the Shimon group in the Bar Giorah Movement, on the occasion of the group members' immigration to Palestine. Pruszków, Poland, 1920s.
1. Cloth flag. Embroidered in the center is an inscription in white cotton thread, in the shape of a circle: "Shimon group, Bar Giorah... in Pruszków. Founded 13 Sivan 1916" (Hebrew).
25X35 cm. Fair condition. Numerous stains. Folding marks and creases. Holes and tears to right margin, where the flag was attached to a handle. Clear dedication in good condition.
2-3. Two photographs (divided on reverse to be used as a postcard) documenting the farewell ceremony of the Shimon group. One of the photographs shows the group members holding a sign that reads "In memory of the journey to Palestine of the Shimon group…"; both photographs show Bar Giorah members holding embroidered cloth flags like the one described above.
14X9 cm. Good condition. Stains and inscriptions on reverse.
