Decorated Bowl Used as a Memorial Candle - Egypt
Memorial candle - bowl used for lighting. [Probably Egypt, first decades of the 20th century].
Repoussé, engraved and stamped copper.
Large, deep bowl, apparently intended for lighting a memorial candle. The bowl's sides are decorated with vegetal motifs, with a hammered Hebrew dedication: "Louisa Fasi, may her candle always burn". The bottom of the bowl is decorated with four large fowl and impressive floral decorations (judging by the quality of the decorations, the bowl was probably intended for suspension from the ceiling).
Rim diameter: 19.5 cm, height: 7.5 cm. Light fissures. Some corrosion.
