Hanukkah Lamp - Lions and Birds - Eastern Europe
Hanukkah lamp. [Eastern Europe, 19th century].
Cast and engraved brass.
Unusual design. In the center of the back plate is a vase with flowers and leaves, supported by a pair of lions. At the top of the plate is a hanger in a vegetal motif, and a pair of birds - on the left and right. The lion faces and bird eyes are engraved. On the right margin is a ring for the shamash (missing) or for the side plates.
Length: 14.5 cm, width: 21 cm. The ring on the left margin is broken and missing. Shamash missing. Side plates missing.
