Binding of Isaac - embroidery. Palestine, [early 20th century].
Embroidery with wool, cotton and spiral metal threads on a perforated cardboard.
Depicted on the upper part are Isaac on the altar, Abraham raising the sword while the angel grabs it; on the left - a ram whose horns are tangled in a tree's branches; depicted on the lower part are Abraham and Isaac on the way to Mount Moriah and the boys, wearing Turkish hats and smoking a nargileh and a pipe, near the donkey.
60X47 cm. Fair-good condition. Some breaks to perforated cardboard. Unraveled threads in some places. Framed. Unexamined out of frame.
