A rich and detailed manuscript, concerning accounting and the science of trade. Includes several title pages, tables demonstrating how to record incomes and outcomes, translations of useful words, versions of letters, and more.
The first record of Jews living in Byaroza, (in Yiddish: Kartus Bereza) dates back to the 17th century. In the 19th century the town was part of Grodno province and about 2,600 Jews lived there; until the end of the 19th century there were six synagogues in the town, and Slonim Hasidim lived there. Between the two World Wars, Jews constituted about two thirds of the population of Byaroza, but all of the Jewish inhabitants of the town perished in the holocaust.
[2], 287 pp, 21 cm. Fair-good condition. About 45 first leaves are detached. Tears and stains at margins and corners of first and last leaves and several lacking paper pieces (no damage to text). No binding.
