Poster of the Jewish National Fund - Settling of Chassidim in Palestine

Poster on behalf of the Jewish National Fund. Tehnic Press, Kishinev, [ca. 1925]. Yiddish.
A poster on the settling of two groups of Chassidim in Palestine - a group led by Rabbi Yechezkel Taub, Rabbi of Jablonna, and a group led by Rabbi Yisrael Elazar Hopstein, Rabbi of Kozniece. Alongside the text are five photographs - a photograph of the Rabbi of Jablonna, photographs of Moshav Avodat Israel founded by Kozniece Chassidim, and more.
In 1924, some eighty families from two Chassidic groups, that of the Rabbi of Jablonna and that of the Rabbi of Kozniece, arrived in Palestine. They bought lands, with partial funding by the JNF, and in 1925 founded two adjacent moshavim: Avodat Israel for the Kozniece Chassidim and Nahlat Yaakov for the Jablonna Chassidim. Their attempts to establish a livestock farm and a crop farm encountered obstacles, among other things due to a lack of training in agricultural work and a lack of assistance from the Zionist national organizations and from Poland. Following appeals of the Rabbi of Jablonna and others, the JNF agreed to assist the settlers. In 1926 the JNF united the two moshavim into one, named Kfar Hasidim.
