Collection of Bags for Tallit - Eretz Israel
Twenty two velvet and fabric bags for Tallit. [Eretz Israel, late 19th through first decades of 20th century].
Embroidery on velvet and on fabric; print on fabric.
Most bags are embroidered with vegetal patterns with the Western Wall embroidered in the center. The inscription "Mazkeret Yerushalem / Kotel Ma'aravi" is also embroidered. Several bags are decorated with embroidery of Menorahs, a crown, lions, birds, initials or a Star of David with "Zion" in its center. One printed bag. Three of the bags contain Tzitzith.
Size and condition vary. 14X22 cm to 27X35 cm. Good-fair condition. Tears, unraveling and wear.
