Zvi Kodesh, Sulzbach, 1748 – Dedication of the Author in his Own Handwriting

Zvi Kodesh, novellae on Tractates Berachot, Shabbat and Eruvin, by Rabbi Zvi Hirsh son of R' David of Sokolov (near the Rzeszów community). Sulzbach, 1748. With eight rabbis' approbations [five are rabbis of the Katzenelbogin family]. On the flyleaf is a nice dedication from 1749, in the author's handwriting (square Rashi script), "From the small author Zvi Hirsh son of R' David of Sokolov" – who donated the book to the library of the Italian influential figure Rabbi Yitzchak Galiko, "whom I have seen that his house is wide open, with relief and salvation for all Torah scholars", and he blesses his wife and children: "His modest wife Ms. Esther, like Queen Esther, finds favor in the eyes of all that behold her… and blessing to all their offspring...Amen, so should be His will until one hundred years". 76 leaves. 20.5 cm. Good condition. Slightly dark paper. Wear and light worming. Old binding, non-contemporary. From the library of Prof. Moshe David Cassuto.
