Manuscript, Diwan – songs and piyyutim. Songs for Shabbat and Festivals, and songs to cheer a bride and groom. Attractive writing with many adornments. [Yemen, 19th century]. Colophons and signatures of the writer, Rabbi "Yosef bi Rav Se'adya Garidi", "Yosef ebn R' Sa'id Algaridi' [Rabbi Yosef Garidi, a sage, leader and scribe, in the city of Dhamar in Central Yemen, at the end of the 19th century. See: Encyclopedia L'Chachmei Teiman, p. 73]. Additions on margins. Among the piyyutim: Poems of Rabbi Yisrael HaSofer and Rabbi Yichye son of Rabbi Avigdor (Leaf 56). Poems of Rabbi Salem Elshabazi about the Muza exile in 1681 (Leaf 80), and more poems "composed by the sage R' Shalom son of Yosef Elshabazi". At the end of the volume is the version of the Kiddush and indexes. [197] leaves. Narrow, long format. Height: 33 cm. Width: 11.5 cm. Fair condition, wear, tears and stains. Ancient leather binding.
