Jerusalem - Woodcut, 16th Century

Jerusalem is portrayed from the east, surrounded by a wall. Names of major sites are inscribed in Latin and in German. A text about Jericho appears on the lower part. A Hebrew text in praise of Jerusalem appears on the reverse of the leaf, as well as an imaginary description of Acre on the left. Woodcut: ca 15X37 cm; leaf: 39.5X31 cm. Good condition, central folding mark. Minor tears at margins and along folding mark. Few stains.
