Two Manuscripts, Judeo-Persian Poetry - The Book of Shoftim and the Story of Yosef HaTsaddik / Yehoshua and Shoftim

• Manuscript, Judeo-Persian poetry: "Shoftim Na'ama" – on the Book of Shoftim and Yosef and Zuleicha, the story of Yosef in Egypt. [Persia, c. beginning of 20th century].
Large format. At the end of the manuscript is a Persian poem telling the story of the king's son and the Nazir; "Tafsir Azharot", and Shabbat songs (compilations of the poems of Rabbi Yisrael Najara).
[129] leaves (missing one leaf or more at the end). 35 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, wear and tears. Damaged leather binding.
• Manuscript, Patach Na'ama – poem in Judeo- Persian on the Books of Yehoshua and Shoftim, until the end of Shaul’s reign. [Persia, c. beginning of 20th century].
[428] leaves. Several lacking or torn leaves. 21 cm. Fair condition. Several leaves are in poor condition. Stains, wear and tear. Worn damaged leather binding.
These compositions are part of a corpus of poetry written on Bible stories by Persian sages. Yosef and Zuleicha (Potifar’s wife) was written by Chacham Meulana Shahin [the greatest Jewish-Persian poet who lived in the 14th century]. The section about the Book of Yehoshua was authored by Chacham Mula Amrani, and the section of Shoftim was written by Chacham Aharon ben Mashiach [in 1692].
