Medal Commemorating the Establishment of a Synagogue in Bordeaux – France, 1810

A copper medal commemorating the establishment of a synagogue in Bordeaux. Maker: Louis Jaley. [France, 1810].
Obverse: Inscription surrounded by a wreath: "Synagogue Consistoriale de Bordeaux".
Reverse: Inscription surrounded by a wreath:"Eleveé en L'an 1810 Sous le Regne de Napoleon le Grand" [built in the year 1810 under the reign of Napoleon the Great], French.
The synagogue in Bordeaux was inaugurated in 1812 and was demolished in a fire in June 1873.
One of only two Synagogue-medals known to have been struck in France under Napoleon.
