Synagogue Wall Calendar – Georgia
Calendar for the year 1949. Akhaltsikhe, Georgia, [1948]. Handwritten calendar, on a large sheet of paper, for hanging on a synagogue wall. Most of the calendar is written in Hebrew, while only several words are in the Kartvelian language (Georgian).
Georgia was the only Soviet Union state during the totalitarian communist regime that allowed free observance of Judaism - prayers in synagogues and Jewish wedding ceremonies.
Length: 40 cm, width: 59 cm. Fair condition. Tears to borders and tears with text omission, spots and folding marks.
