Collection of Items of a "Maccabi" Member in Lithuania – Cycling Tour of Lithuania, 1928

Collection of items of Ya'akov Kovansky of Virbalis, gymnast and soccer player, member of "Maccabi" Lithuania.
* notebook / travel journal. In June 1928 Kovansky cycled around Lithuania and visited Jewish institutes (mainly sports organizations and educational institutes). Wherever he arrived, he asked the representative of the institute which he visited to sign the notebook which he carried with him. The notebook presented here, documents his journey through the cities of Shavel,Kurshenai,Jurbarkas, Vilkaviskis, Marijampole, Fren, Kovno,Jonava and Panavezys. A map is attached, hand-drawn, with records of all the towns and villages which he visited. In Kursenai, an inscription was added "I wish you…that soon you will travel on your bicycle from Dan to Eilat through all of our country…".
