Pottery Juglet - "Bilbil"

Pottery juglet "bilbil"; single handle; dark slip; chip on base. This like much of the pottery in the Land of Israel in the Late Bronze Age was imported, this coming from Cyprus. When held upside down the vessel looks like a poppy giving rise to the theory postulated by Merrilees that such vessels were used to transport opium.Height: 16.5 cm, width: 7cm For type cf.
