Torah Finials – Austro-Hungary – Dedication for Timișoara Congregation – Romania
A pair of Torah finials. Austro-Hungary, 19th century. Silver (marked), cast, engraved and sawn. Two tiers of bells (most of the bells are missing). Dedication of the year 1894 on the rods of both finials from the Timișoara (Romania) congregation: "…Yitzchak Haim Halevi, Avraham Yeuda Gershon…Sepharadim Timișoara.." ["Sepharadim" was the name given to the Hassidic community in the city, who prayed according to Sephardic custom]. Height: 33 cm. Minor bending.
