Pair of Torah Finials – North Africa
Torah Finials (Rimonim). North Africa [Tunisia?], 20th century. Silver (unmarked), cast and engraved. Designed as towers, On the sides of the latticework hang medallions in various shapes: Palms of hands (emblem of Cohen); hand pouring water (emblem of Levi); Holy ark and cherubs; Tablets of the Law; altar and tunic. From the sides come out hooks for chains of bells [most chains missing]. Dedication on the stems: "For the rest of Simon Parineti, passed away August 1929.” Height: 47 cm. Missing bell chains. Threading at top of one of the finials is damaged.
