Kibbutz Ramat Rachel – Three Haggadot
Three non-traditional Passover Haggadot. Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, 1946, 1949 and 1950.
In the 1946 Haggadah appears a text concerning the moral responsibility of Jews in Eretz Israel towards She'erit HaPleita in exile (p.19); on pages 20-23 appears "Ramat Rachel Haggadah". The 1949 Haggadah is divided into several chapters including illustrations of barbed wire fences and Czech Hedgehogs as well as texts about the battle in Ramat Rachel during the 1948 War (which took place about a year earlier) and the state of the Kibbutz after the war, when encircled by enemies and defended by the IDF. The 1950 Haggadah was written in view of the revival of the Kibbutz, healing of war injuries and the development of the young State of Israel. The illustrations of the 1949 and 1950 Haggadot express the above. [1], 30, [1] leaves; [1], 23, [1] leaves; [1], 24, [1] leaves, the three Haggadot: 16X20.5 cm. Good condition.
