Collection of Books from the Library of The Rav HaMapah – Rabbi Moshe Pardo

* "Ginat Veradim, Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah". Constantinople, [1717]. Glosses signed "Mapah". * "Chikrei Lev, Choshen Mishpat", Vol. 2. Thessaloniki, [1832]. Scholarly glosses written by two people. Some are signed: "HaMapah, "Mapah". On Leaf 16 is a gloss signed "I the writer, Avraham ben Nun". * "Nachalat Avot", about the testament of Minister Nissim Shemama. Livorno, [1877]. Dedication to Rabbi Moshe Pardo handwritten and signed by the author Rabbi "Yehuda Jermon" Tunisian rabbi, 1708-1891). * "Urim V'Tumim, Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat". Volumes 1-2. Ostrog, 1834. Inscriptions and signatures of Rabbi Shlomo Chazan (died 1856) and an inscription handwritten and signed fully by Rabbi "Moshe Pardo" who bought the book from "the inheritance of Rabbi Shlomo Chazan".
HaMapah, Rabbi Moshe Pardo (1794-1888) an outstanding scholar of Jerusalem, served as rabbi in the "Beit Din" of the "Rishon L'Zion" Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi together with the author of "Kapei Aharon". In 1867, he was appointed "Av Beit Din" in Jerusalem. In 1870, he went as an emissary to Africa and on his return via Egypt was appointed as rabbi of Alexandria where he served with great honor for 18 years. Amongst his books: "Tzedek U'Mishpat", "Shemo Moshe" etc. Many of his writings are still in manuscript form.
