Silver Bowl – Afghanistan – Blessing for the New Year

A Bowl for drinking arak (liquor). Afghanistan, 1960s.
Engraved silver.
Small bowl, used by Afghanistan Jews for drinking arak, at celebrations or festivals. Engraved on its inner side are Stars of David, animal decorations, structures and the inscription "You shall merit many years of Jerusalem's joy, Aharon ben Ye'uda". Near the bowl's rim are engraved decorations in floral patterns, and the year "5723" (1963).
Height: 2.5 cm. Diameter: 8.7 cm. Placed in floral fabric bag.
