Wooden Table for Synagogue – India

Wooden table. India, [20th century].
Sawn painted wood; glued decorations.
Square wooden table, painted green and decorated with flowers, a large "menorah", inscription "G-d is One" and four Stars of David. The word "Zion" appears inside the upper Stars of David; in the lower Stars is the letter "Peh". Some of the decorations were drawn on the wood itself and some are glued.
Ostensibly, the table was used in the Synagogue. Possibly, the Torah scroll was placed on it. On the bottom part is a later inscription: "Calcutta".
