Polemic in the Worms Congregation - Two Documents, 1871
Two documents, lithographic printing of handwritten letters. Worms, 1871. German.
1. A document with protocols of meetings, applications to the Worms municipality and to the offices of the Duke of Hessen, concerning the intention of four Gaba'im to resign; discussions about new elections. 12 pp, 34.5 cm. Good condition. Staining and folding-marks. Sent by mail. Creases.
2. A document from Moses Mannheimer describing in detail the reasons for the above mentioned Gaba'im's resignation: amongst them the former Rabbi of the congregation, Rabbi Bamberger (an orthodox). Controversies, probably for ideological-religious reasons, led them to support the appointment of Rabbi Stein who was a reform-liberal. Mannheimer was a follower of Rabbi Bamberger. [8] pp, 28 cm.
