Kehilot Ya'akov, rules. Rabbi Israel Ya'akov Algazi. Salonica, 1786. First edition. Numerous signatures by Rabbi Meir Auerbach [from Poland"] in square and Latin writing. Several scholarly glosses in his handwriting appear on the book sheets. [Except for two glosses signed by"Menachem" in the handwriting of his grandson Rabbi Menachem Nathan Auerbach of Jerusalem]. The glosses are slightly cut.
Gaon Rabbi Meir Auerbach (1815-1878), ABD of Kalish, among the leading sages of his generation. Son of Rabbi Yitzchak Itzk Auerbach ABD of Luntshitz author of the"Divrei Chaim" and grandson of Rabbi Chaim Auerbach ABD of Luntshitz author of the"Divrei Mishpat". Moved to Israel in 1859 where he became the first officially appointed Rabbi of Jerusalem's Ashkenazi community. Became known through his book"Imrei Binah". His grandson, Rabbi Menachem Nathan Auerbach (1851-1930) of the leading sages of Jerusalem, moved to Jerusalem with his rabbi and grandfather and inherited his house under the condition that he would not leave Israel. Authored numerous books.
