Prof. Samuel Krauss – Handwritten Letter – WWII -Vienna

Handwritten letter by Prof. Samuel (Shlomo) Krauss, addressed to Yitzchak Avineri in Tel-Aviv. Vienna, February 1939.
“Lonely and exiled, my heart is broken from all the suffering I have had to endure, right now I am awaiting rescue through emigration…my home has been broken into and my books have been stolen…”. Prof. Shlomo Kraus (1866-1948) – Born in Hungary and deceased in England. Historian and Talmudic researcher, professor at the Jewish Teacher Seminary of Budapest and at the Rabbinical Beit Midrash of Vienna. After his books were stolen, [Kraus] moved to England as a refugee and spent the last years of his life in Cambridge. 29 cm leaf. Good condition. Stains. Tears around the edges.
