The Construction of the Knesset Building – Photograph Collection

583 black and white high-quality photographs, arranged in 9 albums, that document the construction of the Knesset Residence in the early 1960 s.
The collection contains photographs of all stages of the Knesset construction (planned by architects Yosef Klarwein, Dov Karmi and Shimon Powsner). It includes photographs of the digging in preparation of the laying of the foundation, digging trenches for laying sewage lines, work on the floor's mosaic tiles and Marc Chagall's artistic wall, cement pouring, and photographs of advanced stages of construction: halls, passageways, ceilings and general views of the construction's progression. Most of the photographs are described and dated in pencil on the reverse side, some are described in detail on the pages of the album; stamps of the photographers Hillel Burger, Werner Braun, see attached material) of Jerusalem. The photographs are of high quality. Average size 13X19 cm, albums 34.5 cm. Very good condition. Some photographs are detached from album leaves.
