Ninety-nine glass slides, colorful photographs taken in Eretz Israel. Chicago, Philadelphia and New-York, end of the 19th century – beginning of the 20th century.
High quality Palestine (Israel and Syria) photographs, some of which later became famous as Palestine souvenir postcards, or were included in various photographic and journey books.
Some slides with a handwritten description on attached paper notes. A few slides are in black and white.
Underwood & Underwood, Radio Mat Slide Co. Makers, Chicago Transparency Co. and T. H. McAllister are among the American manufacturers of the slides.
Names of American photographers such as Edward L. Wilson (1838-1903) and William Herman Rau (1855-1920) appear on the back of some of the slides.
8x10 cm slides, original case. Some of the glass slide covers are broken, otherwise good condition.
