Manuscript – Lamentation for Rabbi Yisrael Deitsch

Manuscript of lamentation, eulogy “upon the demise of our rabbi and mentor… the great luminary… Dayan in Beiten, Rabbi Yisrael Deitsch…”. [1853?]. Eulogy in the form of a lengthy poem, consisting of 52 stanzas.
Rabbi Yisrael Deitsch (1800-1853), Av Beit Din of Beiten (Prussia), son of Rabbi Mordechai Av Beit Din of Zülz and brother of Rabbi David Deitsch Av Beit Din of Zaharoy disciple of the Chatam Sofer (see previous item). Among the protesters of the reform movement, corresponded with the Ktav Sofer, who refers to him in one of his responses as “G-D’s warrior”. His sermons in Hebrew and German were printed in the book Zera Yisrael (Gliwice 1855).
