Manuscript of Responsa and Chiddushim – Brisk, 1896-1899
Two handwritten notebooks; notebook of Chiddushim on the Shas and the declarations which are recited upon completion of learning of a tractate, Brisk, 1896-1899; and notebook of responsa.
The declarations recited upon completion of learning a tractate were said in the city of Brisk in the Beit Midrash of Rabbi Natan Toshpir. Apparently, the author taught Gemara in that Beit Midrash. The notebook contains citations by various rabbis, Chiddushei Torah written to him by “my clever son-in-law Rabbi Y. Bereshkovski”. Mother of the author, Shaina Chaya, passed away in 1860. In the responsa notebook he corresponds with his rabbinic associates: Rabbi Iser Yehudah rabbi of Luna, Rabbi Avraham Zvi Kaplavitz rabbi of Zelva, Rabbi Yisrael Shlamavitz rabbi of Amstibava.
Leaf 76 contains Chiddushim in different handwriting “Chiddushei Torah from my father and mentor Rabbi Shlomo, Rosh Mativta in Volkowisk”.
