Photograph album from the “Hakhel” celebration, Sukkot 1953.
This gathering took place on Mr. Zion in Jerusalem, upon the termination of the 1952 Shmita year, on the seventeenth of Tishrei (October 6, 1952), with the participation of the chief rabbis of Israel, additional rabbis, pubic figures and thousands of people who came from all corners of the Land to partake in the gathering. The photographs depict the rabbis: Rabbi Iser Yehudah Unterman, Rabbi Ben Zion Chai Uziel, Rabbi Aryeh Levine and additional rabbis. Contains additional photographs, including photographs of Rabbi Unterman, picking citrons and standing on the Bimah [in synagogue] on the end of Simchat Torah.
16 photographs, various sizes and conditions (the majorities of the photographs are 18X12 cm. and are in good condition). Placed within an album with copper embossments of David’s Citadel and the Jerusalem Walls.
