Pri HaAretz and Pri Etz – Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitbesk - Zhitomir

Two books of Rebbe Mendeli of Vitbesk, who was a disciple of the Maggid of Mezrich, among the foremost leaders of Chasidut in Russia, and headed the aliya of Chasidim to Eretz Israel in 1777.
1. The book Pri HaAretz, by Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitbesk. Zhitomir, 1849. Printed by Chanaia Lipa, Rabbi Aryeh Leib, and Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel Shapira, grandsons of Slavita Rabbi.
Chasidic homiletics on the Torah. Includes letters which R' Menachem Mendel of Vitbesk sent his diciples, and homiletics by R' Avraham ben R' Dov Ber, the Maggid of Mezrich.
Title-page contains owner's signature: Avraham Shlomo, and the second page contains an interesting prayer (in abbreviations) in his handwriting.
46 leaves, 22 cm. Good condition; stains, tears and professionally restored omissions with slight damage to text.
2. The book Pri Etz by Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitbesk. Zhitomir, M. Bakst Print, 1874. Homiletics on the Torah based on manuscript owned by Rebbe Aharon of Chernobyl.
15 leaves, 22 cm. Good condition. Stained and creased. Ex libris.
