Description of the historic 1937 flight of aviation pioneer Georgy Baydukov from Moscow to America via the North Pole. The flight was part of efforts to prove the aerial and technological superiority of the Soviet Union. For his daring flight, Baydukov was awarded the title "Hero of the Soviet Union" - the highest decoration in the Soviet Union.


Book cover and color illustrations by Alexander Deyneka (Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Дейне́ка; 1899-1969) – painter, sculptor and graphic designer in the Socialist Realist style, who was considered one of the most important figurative painters in Russia in the first half of the 20th century.
