Letter from Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch. Otwock (Poland), 13 Iyar, 1936.
Typewritten on the official stationery of the Rebbe Rayatz, with his signature "Yosef Yitzchak".
Sent to his relative R. Azriel Zelig Slonim, about two weeks after the outbreak of the Great Arab Revolt of 1936-1939, at the end of April 1936. At the beginning of his letter the Rayatz thanks R. Slonim for his message that the Chassidic community is well, and blesses them with peace; at the end of the letter the Rayatz expresses his shock and disappointment that Kollel Chabad didn't report to him on the state of the Chassidim in Eretz Israel.
The Rayatz goes on to thank him for the greeting he received from his relative R. Yisrael Moshe Barbash (grandson of Rebbe Shemaryahu Noach of Babruysk), who had immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in Tel Aviv about two months earlier, and blesses him with an order conducive to Torah and service of God, sustenance and ease, physical and spiritual. The Rayatz goes on to write about the health of the mashpia R. Alter Simchowitz (1891-1939) and showers him, his wife and his children with blessings.
The present letter has not been printed in the Rebbe's Igrot Kodesh.
