Letter of Blessing and Guidance from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Tevet 1958 – Blessing for an Appropriate Shidduch – Charity before Lighting Candles for Shabbat and Yom Tov and Checking Mezuzot

Letter of Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Brooklyn, New York, 12 Tevet, 1958. Yiddish.

Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with the signature of the Rebbe's secretary R. Eliyahu Quint – "in the name of the Rebbe".

Sent to Mrs. Masha Friedman in Bnei Brak. At the beginning of the letter the Rebbe writes that he will mention her son Refael at the Rebbe Rayatz's gravesite. The Rebbe goes on to bless him for an appropriate Shidduch soon: "It is understood that it must also be done naturally… in a modest manner; and God gives His blessing and success even supernaturally".

The Rebbe finishes by encouraging her and guiding her to give charity before lighting the Shabbat and Yom Tov candles, and to check the mezuzot in her home.
